Artist's Statement

Ever since I was a small child I have loved drawing and painting people. I am particularly interested in capturing the unique character and attributes of my subjects. It is with great enjoyment that I watch and observe people within the landscape, whether it is gardening, country sport activity or just someone relaxing.

It is a privilege to record these moments in time using the traditional craft of paint on canvas. I am equally interested in painting special places within our landscape; recording somewhere of personal significance that lifts the human spirit. My main influences are Velazquez, Manet, Sargent, Degas and Whistler.

I am always looking for new challenges and happy to chat about the commissioning process.
